The patterns you see on the various textiles are designed by the Shipibo people, an indigenous tribe that lives in the Amazon Jungle. The Shipibo’s see and hear these patterns in nature and reproduce them in song and design for a variety of purposes such as protection, healing, abundance and harmony. Each of the designs has a specific meaning and can be sung as each of these artful prayers also function as a musical score, called an Icaro. The design element and the Icaro operate cohesively to carry the power of the healing or blessing. The textiles are one-of-a-kind and handmade.
