The patterns you see on this textile are designed by the Shipibo people, an indigenous tribe that lives in the Amazon Jungle.
The Shipibo see and hear these patterns in nature and reproduce them in both song and design for a variety of purposes such as protection, healing, abundance and harmony. Each visual design has a specific meaning and can additionally be sung: each of these artful prayers also functions as a musical score, called an Icaro.
The design element and the Icaro operate cohesively to carry the power of the healing or blessing.
The textiles are one-of-a-kind and handmade.
This textile is 9 inches by 14 inches and is suitable for framing and hanging.
