Enrique, the elder “Onanya” (shaman in Shipibo), helps clear the area for building a perimeter fence around the medicine garden at the Kurin Metsa School of Shamanism.
The need for a fence became especially important last year, in the Spring of 2021, when a road was built along the edge of the garden posing a threat to their sacred plants.
At the June 2021 solstice, we shared a Ceremony to Bring in Abundance, which was facilitated by Enrique and four of his students. Many of you participated in that ceremony and sent a follow-up contribution, which we applied towards this project. Your support helped the Kurin Metsa School protect their investment!
Since June of last year, the fence construction progressed nicely, but the rainy season delayed its completion. The last section of proposed fence crosses through an area that becomes impassible at certain times of the year due to high water. Construction of the fence in this area necessitates waiting for the dry season, which is now. With its arrival, work has resumed and completion is underway. Thank you for your collective support and generous donations!
